HEINZMANN has successfully completed the equipping of a GM185V-VG-CR diesel engine for locomotives with a common rail fuel injection system. The GM185V-VG-CR engine family from the Hungarian engine manufacturer Ganz Motor Kft. based in Budapest is the revised version of the S.E.M.T. Pielstick PA4V 185VG engine family. These are typical high-speed engines that cover a wide power range depending on the number of cylinders. They are manufactured under licence worldwide and are primarily used in locomotives.
The Callenge:
The aim of equipping the vehicle with a common-rail fuel injection system was to fulfil the Stage IIIA emissions standard in accordance with Directive 97/68 EC.
The HEINZMANN Solution:
Compliance with the emission standard was achieved with the following components: a high-pressure pump, a EFI control system and injectors for pre-chamber injection. With an additional diesel particulate filter, even Stage IIIB can be achieved.
