April 2025
Long-Standing Employment as a Sign of Trust and Future Prospects
Once again, this year the family-run business HEINZMANN proves itself to be a reliable and secure employer – particularly thanks to the long-standing commitment of many of its employees. Among this year’s work anniversaries is Sales Representative Bianca Becker. She has been working for the specialist in engine management and electric drives since April 1995. On the occasion of her 30th work anniversary, she was asked a few questions.
Esma Pehlivan (PeE): How did you come to join HEINZMANN, and what motivated you to work here?
I joined HEINZMANN through a friend. At the time, I never expected to stay with the company for so long. When you’re young, you don’t think that far ahead. But now, I’m very proud of it. What motivated me back then was, without a doubt, the prospect of a secure job. HEINZMANN already had a reputation as a reliable employer – and that’s exactly why I wanted to join.
PeE: What changes have you witnessed during your 30 years at the company?
BeB: One of the most noticeable changes has definitely been the growth in employee numbers. We’ve expanded significantly, which is particularly remarkable considering that we live and work in a relatively small region.
PeE: Has your role changed over the years? Have you always worked in Sales?
BeB: I’ve always worked in Sales. However, during my first three months, I worked in the Engine and Turbine Management department as holiday cover for a colleague. After that, I moved to the Electric Drives division and have stayed there ever since.
PeE: From your point of view, which developments or changes in the company have been the most significant?
BeB: The most significant changes have been in technology and IT. When I started, we didn’t have a modern IT system – we were still using fax machines, which today’s apprentices can hardly imagine! Over the years, we’ve implemented many new systems, which has changed the way we work considerably. There have also been continual innovations in our products, especially in engine development. The e-bike division has also evolved significantly. These technical and product-related changes have certainly been the most defining.
PeE: Is there a particular moment that stands out in your memory?
BeB: The excellent collaboration between all departments. It was about a critical order for HEINZMANN America – the new engine series for the PRI. The order had to be shipped urgently, and it was impressive to see how every department – from Development to Purchasing, Production, Sales, and the Warehouse – worked together perfectly to make it happen. Everyone did their part. We all really pushed hard. Since it was Friday afternoon and there were no more internal deliveries, we even took the shipment to dispatch ourselves so that it could be packed in time. Moments like that really show how strong our teamwork is.
PeE: Is there anything you wish for in the years ahead at HEINZMANN?
BeB: Above all, I hope to continue working in my current department until I retire. Personally, I also wish that all my colleagues stay on as well. If you’ve been at a company for 30 years and you’re not happy, you wouldn’t stay. So I don’t have any special wishes – I’m happy with how things are.
PeE: What do you particularly appreciate about your working environment at HEINZMANN, and what makes the company a good employer?
BeB: What I value most are my wonderful colleagues, many of whom have become true friends over the years, and the respectful and fair atmosphere we have here.
HEINZMANN is also known for being a reliable employer that always pays on time. Another highlight is the variety of events – excursions, celebrations, and anniversaries – I was there for both the 100th and 125th anniversaries.
On top of that, the company offers a wide range of health-related activities, including smoking cessation courses and fitness classes such as full-body preventative training.
The interview was conducted by Esma Pehlivan (commercial apprentice in her second year of training).
