Long-Standing Employment as a Sign of Trust and Future Prospects
This year, the family-owned company HEINZMANN once again demonstrates that it is a reliable and secure employer – especially through its many long-serving employees. Among the honorees is Hubert Kienzler (Head of Business Development), who has been part of the team for 30 years. In the following interview, he shares his experiences and time at HEINZMANN.
KoA: Mr. Kienzler, you started here 30 years ago. How did you come to join HEINZMANN?
KiH: - It was rather unconventional. After five years at an institute for aerospace engineering, I was casually looking for a new position. Through a friend's recommendation, I got in touch with Anton Gromer. One Sunday, I showed up in Schönau with my young family – without a written application. There was an immediate connection. As a passionate motorcycle enthusiast, I was particularly fascinated by the topic of electronic control for combustion engines.
KoA: Did you expect to be celebrating your 30-year anniversary here?
KiH: Not really. But I didn’t set a specific time frame either, leaving it open. However, I always had a long-term perspective in mind, partly for family reasons. In my early 30s, I couldn't quite imagine thinking in such long timelines.
KoA: What do you do at HEINZMANN? How would you describe your work today?
KiH: After working in various positions at HEINZMANN, I’ve been responsible for business development of electronic fuel systems for five years now. My tasks include market observation, business development, creating customer-oriented solutions, internal coordination, and project handover to development and production. Close customer relationships are essential to respond flexibly to new demands.
KoA: In your view, what has changed the most at HEINZMANN over the last 30 years?
KiH: HEINZMANN has changed significantly over 30 years. From the 80 employees I knew personally, we’ve grown to over 250, many of whom I don’t know. Over the years, some colleagues have become particularly close to me. Products, structures, and processes have also evolved. The larger product range and increasing customer demands require more of our resources, limiting our capacities...
KoA: What do you look back on fondly, and what special moments have stayed with you?
KiH: I fondly remember many special moments at HEINZMANN, like the Christmas parties in the “Schedbau” and the 100th anniversary. Successful developments and long-standing business relationships are just as memorable as the intense efforts with colleagues and shared moments of success. Worldwide projects have shaped me not only professionally but also brought me closer to many cultures and people. There are quite a few special stories to tell…
KoA: What makes HEINZMANN a good employer?
KiH: HEINZMANN offers exciting tasks in engine technology, focusing on innovation and environmental awareness. Flat hierarchies and a strong team spirit create an attractive environment for technology enthusiasts.
KoA: Is there any advice you would give to new employees?
KiH: My advice to new employees at HEINZMANN: stay open to new things! There are always exciting opportunities for development. Individual strengths and preferences are recognized and encouraged – a win for everyone.
